THAI CUISINE RESTAURANT
Ganesha with an elephant’s head froze in a lotus position, the elephant’s saddle turned into a throne, and golden apples rolled down the bar… Black Thai restaurant is fascinating at first sight. It does not look like ordinary Thai restaurants, but its amazing atmosphere reflects Thailand much more accurately than the most truthful photograph. Because the matter is not in the details — the matter is in love and in the mood. Traditional motifs sound new in the setting of a modern trendy restaurant. An elegant girl in national dress «dances» on a glass panel that separated the chamber podium from the large hall. Carved wooden columns resemble the Buddhist stupas of Thailand. And the inlaid guardian dragons gleam from the cozy darkness of Black Thai. A fine line between national specificity and exotic flavor was found in everything from the interior to the menu.
Black Thai gathers around itself a fashionable and young audience: fans of electronic music, party-goers and, of course, connoisseurs of cocktails. The Around the World section opens the Black Thai bar card — it includes almost all the hits of international cocktail classics. At the head of the Colors of Thailand menu are nine brand new cocktails invented specifically for Black Thai. Some of them are named after the islands of Thailand: Lipe, Chang, Tao, Phuket, Phangan, Samui and Phi-Phi; others are Big Buddha (a power not based on pear brandy) and Milk Mai-Tai (a delicate twist on a tiki style legend).

RUSSIAN CUISINE RESTAURANT
The success of Andrei Dellos’s restaurant can be explained simply: “We’ve created harmony at “Pushkin” – here even mistakes turn into advantages” For many years restaurant “Café Pushkin” on Tverskoy Boulevard in Moscow has been serving staples of Russian nobility cuisine in the splendid atmosphere of the old aristocratic mansion.
HISTORY
More than 50 years ago, the legendary French chansonnier Gilbert Bécaud performed in Moscow. When he returned to Paris he wrote the song “Natalie” and dedicated it to his Russian guide. The song goes: “We are walking around Moscow, visiting Red Square, and you are telling me learned things about Lenin and the Revolution, but I’m thinking, ‘I wish we were at Café Pushkin, looking at the snow outside the windows. We’d drink hot chocolate, and talk about something completely different…’” The song became incredibly popular in France, and it is no wonder that French visitors to Moscow tried to find “Café Pushkin.” They couldn’t find it as it existed only as a poetic fantasy in Bécaud’s song. But it was the song that inspired Andrei Dellos, an artist and restaurateur with Franco-Russian roots, to create “Café Pushkin.”
On June 4, 1999, “Café Pushkin” opened in a Baroque mansion on Tverskoy Boulevard. At the grand opening, Gilbert Bécaud performed his world-famous song “Natalie.” Tverskoy Boulevard and the streets around it played a significant, almost mystical role in the life of Russian poet Alexander Pushkin. When the boulevard opened in 1796, it became a favorite place among Moscow high society for a stroll. Pushkin could be found there frequently.
The famous dancing master Jogel, who taught dance to the children of Moscow and St Petersburg’s nobility for many years, hosted children’s balls at the house of the Kologrivov family, which stood where the Moscow Gorky Arts Theatre now stands. It was at one such ball that Pushkin met his future wife, Natalya Goncharova. At the far end of the boulevard, near the Nikitsky Gates, is the church where the couple later married. The statue of Pushkin originally stood on Tverskoy Boulevard, too.

GEORGIAN CUISINE RESTAURANT
A new restaurant of authentic Georgian cuisine Kazbek has recently opened next to Bochka and Shinok. This is a symbol restaurant, an image restaurant, an impression restaurant in the best traditions of Maison Dellos. In his new project, Andrey Dellos gathered all his youthful memories of numerous holidays spent in Georgia. Many people have tried to bring a sunny sensation from Georgia, to transfer the kindliness of their hospitable friends and acquaintances onto the Moscow restaurant field, all by generously dressing it with Rkatsiteli and Saperavi, to repeat the unique taste of home cooking, to reproduce at least a small part of the charm of noisy local family feasts. But no borrowings can be successful out of context, and the ideas pulled out of their climate, culture and mentality lose their flavor while being transported. These complex issues were sorted out not only by logistics, but mostly by a conceptual thinking and a creative approach.
As a result, instead of Manon, we got an atmospheric Georgian flat – a collective image of all the flats that the future restaurateur had chance to visit as a child with his parents. Plenty of daylight, skillfully distressed walls, carved wooden screens, textured floors, but the main thing is a huge real wood-stove built in a luxurious buffet to bake khachapuri and bread, and the windows looking out onto the restaurant kitchen, where everything is directed by the young blue-eyed Chef from Tbilisi Mamiya Jojua and his mother.

On March 28 (17th according to the old style), 1776, Catherine II signed a “privilege” to the prosecutor, Prince Peter Urusov, for the content of performances, masquerades, balls and other entertainments for a period of ten years. This date is considered the founding day of the Moscow Bolshoi Theater. The Bolshoi building, which for many years has been perceived by everyone as one of the main attractions of Moscow, opened on August 20, 1856 during the coronation of Alexander II.
On October 29, 2002, the troupe of the theater received the New Stage, on which its activities unfolded during the years of large-scale reconstruction of the historical building.
The reconstruction lasted from July 1, 2005 to October 28, 2011. She revived many of the lost features of the historical appearance of the famous building and at the same time placed it among the most technically equipped theater buildings in the world. The Bolshoi Theater is a stable symbol of Russia for all time. He received this honorable role thanks to the great contribution he made to the history of Russian art. For more than two centuries the Mariinsky Theatre has been presenting the world with a plethora of great artistes: the outstanding bass and founding father of the Russian operatic performing school Osip Petrov served here; this is where such great singers as Fyodor Chaliapin, Ivan Yershov, Medea and Nikolai Figner and Sofia Preobrazhenskaya honed their skills and rose to glory. Ballet dancers reigned supreme on this stage, among them Mathilde Kschessinska, Anna Pavlova, Vaslav Nijinsky, Galina Ulanova, Rudolf Nureyev and Mikhail Baryshnikov. This is where George Balanchine set out on the road to art. This theatre has witnessed the dawn of the talents of such brilliant theatre decorators as Konstantin Korovin, Alexander Golovin, Alexandre Benois, Simon Virsaladze and Fyodor Fyodorovsky among countless others.
The Mariinsky Theatre can trace its history as far back as 1783, when a Decree on the establishment of a theatre committee “for performances and music” was published on 12 July and the Bolshoi Stone Theatre was opened on Carousel Square amid great pomp on 5 October. The theatre gave the square its new name – even today it is known as Theatre Square.
Built according to plans by Antonio Rinaldi, the Bolshoi Theatre staggered the public with the sheer scale of its dimensions, its majestic architecture and its stage, equipped with the most up-to-date theatre equipment and machinery. Giovanni Paisiello’s opera Il mondo della luna was performed at the opening. The Russian Opera Company performed here in turn with the Italian and French Companies, and there were also plays and concerts of vocal and instrumental music.

The old Moscow circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard is one of the oldest circuses in Russia. More than a hundred years ago, in 1880, this building on Tsvetnoy Boulevard was built for the circus of Albert Salamon’s office by the merchant Danilov. They say that the first ruble earned for the ticket, Salamonsky inserted into the frame and hung at the box office. The Moscow Kremlin is one of the biggest architectural and urban development ensembles in the world. It stands in the centre of the city, on the Borovitsky Hill situated on the Moskva River left bank. It resembles an irregular triangle. Walls’ height, narrow embrasures, places for staying during the fight and distances between the towers—all these tell us that the Kremlin is the fortress in the first place. But once you enter the Kremlin the feeling changes. The territory of 27,5 hectare houses wide squares and beautiful gardens, majestic palaces and plenty of churches. The whole city in the city, which had been forming for many centuries, today preserves monuments of Russian architecture of the 14th – 20th centuries.
The cathedrals, churches, administrative buildings form the ensemble of Cathedral, Ivanovskaya, Senatskaya, Dvortsovaya and Troitskaya Squares, as well as Spasskaya, Borovitskaya, and Dvortsovaya Streets in the Kremlin. The ancient and the new squares form an architectural ensemble, but each component has its own history and unique architectural appearance.
